Going back to school after one whole month of fun and frolic may seem like a harrowing experience for most. For the less fortunate, worries come in the form of not having the right shoes, uniforms or schoolbags.
For the 14th year running, Intel Malaysia held its Back2School programme to benefit underprivileged students from selected schools in Penang, this time in collaboration with Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Pulau Pinang (JPN), Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah Pulau Pinang, Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah Kedah Darul Aman, SMK Mengkuang and SK Mengkuang (an Intel Involved Matching Grant Program school).
4 underprivileged students each from 24 schools (including 23 IIMGP schools) were invited to participate in this year’s Back2School program where each student was presented with an Intel Back2School kit which includes a schoolbag, stationery, uniforms, school shoes, and socks donated by Intel employees.
8 schools were also the lucky recipient of surplus laptops:
While students occupied their time with game stations manned by Intel employee; playing games such as Pick-up Sticks, Chess, Snakes and Ladders and Monopoly Deal, the visiting guests of honour were also not left out of the festivities.
Students from SK Mengkuang feted Tuan Haji Osman Bin Hussain, Head of the Human Development Management Sector, Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Pulau Pinang, Encik Mohd Jamil Bin Hj Othman, Head of the Co-curriculum Unit, Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Pulau Pinang, Puan Zaitun bt Yahya, Principal, SMK Mengkuang, Puan Jamilah bt Man, PengetuaPrincipal, SMK Mengkuang and Mr. Yeoh Eng Hong, Operations Manager, Intel Malaysia to two traditional Malay dances; the Kuda Kepang and Endang. All in all, the event was a successful one.
